Vin de Pays des Côtes de Gascogne
This Vin de Pays is today well-known on both national and international markets.
‘‘Le Gascogne’’, a term often used to
refer to Vin de Pays des Côtes de Gascogne, practically shares its
borders with those of the Gers ‘‘département’’.
With almost 500,000 Hl sold per year, it is the
most widely exported French white wine and the fifth Vin de Pays in
France in terms of volume.
Le Gascogne, essentially white, is an aromatic,
fresh and agreeable wine, resulting from the blending of traditional
local varieties and taking advantage of the technology and the
know-how of modern oenologists.
This fresh, fruity and agreeable wine takes its
qualities from the colombard variety, nowadays subtly augmented with
sauvignon, chardonnay and gros-manseng
Red "Vins de pays des Côtes de
Gascogne" take their colour
from the tannat, their softness in the mouth and their fruitiness from
merlot and cabernet.
Rules concerning conditions for production,
labelling and storage, etc. tend to make it an even better wine, which
adapts itself to the taste of the consumer.

Vin de Pays du Gers
With a total production of 1,800,000 Hl
of wine, the Gers is by far the leading Vin de Pays producing ‘‘département’’
in the South-West of France and the 2nd
wine-growing ‘‘département’’ after the Gironde.
In France there are around 90 ‘‘départements’’
Vins de Pays, all governed by the same general decree of 1979 which
fixes their conditions for production.
Vin de Pays du Gers is geographically
demarcated by the administrative borders of this ‘‘département’’.
Our products, mostly white, are
distinguished from southern regional wines, often considered as
lacking liveliness, and those of northern areas which on the contrary
are sometimes considered too aggressive.
Colombard, gros-manseng and ugni blanc
are the main white varieties used.
The quality initiative for Vin de Pays
du Gers complies with all the others in the ‘‘département’’,
being based on our local produce, and our "Green Welcome",
etc.
Reasoned production and work on
effluents and water, for example, clearly show our wish to achieve
"top quality" in all aspects.

Vin de Pays du Comté Tolosan
Created by decree of 6th April 1982, Vin de Pays
du Comté Tolosan is a "young" appellation.
It is one of the 5 regional Vins de Pays that
exist in France today.
Vin de Pays du Comté Tolosan brings together
the wine-growing areas of 11 ‘‘départements’’ from the large
Midi-Pyrenees region.
Production is nevertheless concentrated mostly
in the Gers and also the Tarn, and to a lesser extent in the Landes
and the Tarn-et-Garonne.
The Gers and the Landes produce predominantly
white wine, the Tarn and the Tarn-et-Garonne essentially red wine.
This regional Vin de Pays therefore offers
buyers large quantities of product profiles which are not threatened
by climatic damage in any one specific area.
Our white Vins de Pays du Comté Tolosan are
made essentially from Colombard and Ugni blanc, although other
varietals such as Gros-Manseng, sauvignon, chardonnay, etc. are also
used.
The reds are made with merlot, tannat, cabernet
sauvignon and cabernet franc.

The Gers ‘‘département’’ also produces
table wines.

Our white table wines, made uniquely from free
run juice, are converted into wine at a low temperature, generally
fined and filtered before their dispatch.

Armagnac
The middle-age "Aqua
Ardente", the oldest French brandy, is today named after
the province in which it was created towards the beginning of
the 15th century : ARMAGNAC.
This AOC quality label (appellation
d'Origine Contrôlée) brandy, the first delimited in France in
1909, is mainly produced in the Gers ‘‘département’’ and in
some districts of the Landes and the Lot-et-Garonne.
Armagnac is made by continuously
distilling wine, obtained by the fermentation of white
grape varieties without additives:
Bacco 22A, Folle blanche, Ugni blanc and Colombard.
This colourless brandy then
ages and matures for a long time in "pièces" (400
litre oak barrels) or in wooden
barrels and is slowly transformed into an
amber coloured nectar with a complex bouquet.
CVG markets bulk armagnacs
of its coops on a complete range of "Bas Armagnac"
(terroir in the west of the appellation on ‘‘sables fauves’’
or “sandy loam”) and "Ténarèze " (terroir in the heart
of the vineyard on clay-limestone and sandy soils).
We propose:
- Young Armagnac: less than 5 years old,
- Old Armagnac: from 6 to 30 years old,
- Vintage Armagnac: old brandies from prestigious years.
